Our Services
Individual Therapy
At Healing Roots Therapy, I provide authentic, culturally responsive virtual therapy for adults throughout Florida.
My practice primarily focuses on trauma and women's mental health, with a particular focus on BIPOC women. I also work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, relationships, social justice concerns, and major life transitions.
Therapy is a space to understand yourself more deeply, work through difficult experiences, recognize patterns, and make meaningful changes in your life.
My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy.
I believe therapy should give you room to be honest, ask difficult questions, challenge old patterns, and figure out what actually works for you.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy provides space for partners to better understand their relationship patterns, improve communication, work through conflict, and navigate challenges together.
We may explore communication, trust, boundaries, emotional needs, intimacy, recurring relationship patterns, or major changes within the relationship.
My approach is collaborative and direct, helping couples understand what is happening beneath the conflict and work toward healthier ways of relating.
Specialties
trauma
Trauma can affect much more than how you remember the past. It can influence your relationships, boundaries, self-esteem, emotional responses, sense of safety, and the way you understand yourself.
Therapy can provide space to process difficult experiences, understand how they may still be affecting you, and develop healthier ways of moving forward.
social justice
Our mental health is shaped by more than our individual experiences.
Race, gender, culture, discrimination, social expectations, inequality, and other systemic experiences can affect how we see ourselves, navigate relationships, access resources, and experience the world around us.
Therapy can provide space to explore how these experiences have affected you while also helping you identify what is within your control, what needs to change, and how you want to move forward.
Life Transitions
Life doesn't always change on your timeline.
Career changes, relationship changes, health issues, family changes, identity shifts, and other major transitions can leave you questioning what comes next.
Therapy can provide space to process the change, understand what you need, and move forward with greater clarity.
women’s issues
Women's mental health is about more than anxiety and depression.
I work with women navigating the emotional and psychological impact of women's health issues and major health experiences. This may include PCOS, perimenopause and menopause, hormonal changes, family planning, sexual health, chronic health conditions, body changes, and other experiences that can affect mental health.
Together, we can explore how these experiences affect your mood, identity, relationships, self-esteem, sexuality, stress, and overall well-being.
anxiety
Anxiety can show up as constant worry, overthinking, irritability, physical tension, difficulty relaxing, or feeling like you always have to be prepared for what might go wrong.
Therapy can help you understand what's underneath the anxiety, recognize patterns that keep it going, and develop healthier ways of responding.
self esteem & boundaries
Struggling with self-worth can affect nearly every area of life.
Therapy can help you explore self-doubt, people-pleasing, difficulty saying no, seeking validation, and patterns that make it difficult to prioritize yourself or trust your own decisions.
bipoc women
Mental health does not exist separately from culture, race, gender, family expectations, healthcare experiences, or the environments we navigate.
For BIPOC women, these experiences can intersect with trauma and women's health in ways that may be overlooked or misunderstood.
Therapy provides space to explore those experiences without minimizing them or separating them from the rest of who you are.
depression
Depression can affect your mood, motivation, relationships, self-esteem, and ability to enjoy things you once cared about.
Therapy can help you understand the factors contributing to what you're experiencing and work toward meaningful change.
relationship issues
Relationships can bring up patterns that are difficult to understand on your own.
Therapy can help you explore communication, boundaries, trust, attachment, conflict, emotional needs, and recurring relationship dynamics.
